Florence and The Machine revealed as final Bestival headliner – ticket details

Florence Welch will join Stevie Wonder and New Order in topping the festival bill

Florence And The Machine will headline the opening night of this year’s Bestival.

The final big name to be announced, Florence joins Stevie Wonder and New Order as the event’s headlining acts. You can watch a video of the singer getting into the festival’s ‘Wildlife’ theme by donning a bear costume and performing an acoustic cover of Talking Heads’ ‘Wild Wild Life’ by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

Florence And The Machine will play on the Friday night of the weekender (September 7). Of Florence Welch’s booking, festival organiser Rob da Bank has said:

Her shows for us at Bestival and Camp Bestival over the last few years have always been highlights for many and I’m glad we can finally seal the deal with a headline show on the Friday of Bestival and with The xx on before her this promises to go down in the Best of Bestival yearbook!

Earlier this year, da Bank told NME that quite a few of the users on the event’s messageboards had already correctly guessed who the final headliner was.

Responding to a question about whether he had secured a third headliner, he said: “The third headliner is done and dusted, but we’re going to wait a while to announce them. There’s quite a lot of people who’ve guessed right about who it is on our message boards, but I won’t say anymore than that.”

Other artists confirmed for this year’s Bestival include Friendly Fires, Death In Vegas, Django Django, The xx, Sigur Ros, The Horrors, Two Door Cinema Club, Azealia Banks, Soulwax, Nero, Emeli Sande, Warpaint, Spiritualized, Gary Numan, Charli XCX, First Aid Kit, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Turbowolf, De La Soul, Major Lazer, Justice and Gallows.

Bestival will take place from September 6–9 at Robin Hill Park on the Isle Of Wight. For more information about the event, see Bestival.net.
