Drug-related death reported at Flume gig in Washington DC

Reports state that the 19 year old took MDMA at the event

A gig-goer attending a recent Flume show in the US capital of Washington DC reportedly passed away from a drug-related death last week.

NBC Washington reports that Victoria Callahan, 19, attended the concert, which saw the Australian producer headlining, to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday (June 10). She is reported to have taken MDMA at the event, which took place at the city’s 6,000 capacity Echostage venue.

Police reports state that Callahan began to feel unwell around 12:15 am, with the individual later rushed to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, passing away in the emergency room during the early hours of Thursday (June 11).

Meanwhile, Flume has remixed new Sam Smith single ‘Lay Me Down’. Smith recently charted at Number Eight in the US with the track, the singer’s fourth consecutive Top 10 single in the country. ‘Lay Me Down’ shot up the Billboard charts following the release of an updated version of the track featuring John Legend. It was previously at Number 58.

‘Lay Me Down’ follows Smith’s previous effort’s ‘Stay With Me’, ‘I’m Not The Only One’ and ‘Latch’ (with Disclosure) in reaching the US Top 10. Listen to the Flume remix here.
