Serge Pizzorno previously said he'd want to work with the producer
Producer Flying Lotus has said that he’s never heard of Kasabian.
Earlier this year, the producer was one of the artists mentioned by Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno on his wish list of artists he would like to work with, along with Kanye West and Sky Ferreira. However, when asked by NME if this is something he’d be keen to do, the Los Angeles producer revealed that he’d never heard of the guitarist, or his band.
When asked by NME if he would like to work with Pizzorno, Flying Lotus – real name Steven Ellison – replied: “I don’t know the man, I’ve never heard of them… What do they sound like?”
Flying Lotus will release his fifth studio album, ‘You’re Dead!’, on October 6. It features guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, jazz musician Herbie Hancock and Flying Lotus’ alter-ego Captain Murphy.
The LP is a concept album about death, he reveals in this week’s NME, which is on newsstands now or available digitally.
“I’ve always been fascinated with death… I’ve lost a lot of people in my life. I have my own personal fears. I wanted to make music that confronted that. The album starts at the moment of death. It’s like: you’re dead, now what?”
‘You’re Dead!’ is Flying Lotus’ first release since 2012 LP ‘Du∆lity’, a mixtape that was put out under Ellison’s animated Captain Murphy guise.
The tracklisting for ‘You’re Dead!’ is:
‘Tesla’ [feat. Herbie Hancock]
‘Never Catch Me’ [feat. Kendrick Lamar]
‘Dead Man’s Tetris’ [feat. Snoop Dogg and Captain Murphy]
‘Turkey Dog Coma’
