Foals want their new album to be ‘filthy’ – video

Band chat at Shockwaves NME Awards

Foals have said they want their next album to be “filthy.”

The band spoke to NME in a new video interview after winning the Best Track award at last night’s (February 23) Shockwaves NME Awards.

Frontman Yannis Philippakis said the band would all be going their separate ways for a month or so soon, but that new recording sessions would then begin “in earnest”. He added that he wants the follow-up to last year’s ‘Total Life Forever’ album to sound “filthy in every sense”.

Speaking about ‘Spanish Sahara’, the song they won their award for, Philippakis said: “Every time we play it, we feel like we can get back to its original meaning. It’s not dated at all.”
