Conditions were hot and sweaty for the show, with thousands of fans rushing inside the tent to see the band as the sun was still beating down on the Worthy Farm site.
And Foals‘ fans were in the mood for making some noise of their own, bellowing along to second song ‘Cassius’ and clapping in time to the following ‘Olympic Airways’.
“It’s good to be back at Glastonbury – it’s been a long time,” Philippakis noted, leading the Oxford five-piece through songs from new album ‘Total Life Forever’ plus older fan favourites.
It was during penultimate song ‘Electric Bloom’ that he made his crowd foray, climbing the stage rigging before dropping down to dive into the front row. He returned to the stage to cheers before returning, shirtless, for one more leap into the crowd.
The band then ended their set with ‘Two Steps Twice’, the singer playing part of the song perched on an amp stack then hurling bottled water into the crowd.
