First episode in series 47 also featured My Morning Jacket, Squeeze and Kwabs
Foals and Disclosure played live during the first episode of BBC Two’s veteran music show Later… With Jools Holland last night (September 16).
Disclosure performed ‘Jaded’ from their upcoming second album ‘Caracal’ with Guy Lawrence of the duo taking lead vocals. It was explained the Sam Smith, who was due to play with Disclosure, had pulled out through illness.
Foals, meanwhile, performed two songs from new album ‘What Went Down’. They opened the show with ‘Mountain At My Gates’ before closing the episode with the title track from the new record. At one point during the latter song, frontman Yannis Philippakis walked through the studio and put his arm around fellow guest Rickie Lee Jones.
The first episode also starred My Morning Jacket, Squeeze and Kwabs. The Maccabees will appear on next week’s episode, which will air on September 23.

The eight-part show will comprise of a half-hour live edition at 10pm entitled Later Live on Wednesdays, with an extended hour-long edition on Friday evenings.
Later With Jools Holland began on BBC2 in 1992. Artists who appeared on the most recent series earlier this year included Florence + The Machine, Blur, Noel Gallagher, Mumford & Sons, The Vaccines and Sleater-Kinney. Rapper Kendrick Lamar was scheduled to appear but pulled his performance.
