Foals perform new album track ‘A Knife In The Ocean’ live – listen

Band previewed the song during BBC Radio 1 session at Maida Vale

Foals performed a special live session at London’s Maida Vale studios for BBC Radio 1 on Tuesday (July 21).

The band release their fourth album ‘What Went Down’ on August 28, following on from 2013’s ‘Holy Fire’. The LP was recorded in the south of France with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons, Mumford & Sons).

Having already unveiled studio recordings for the album’s title-track and ‘Mountain At My Gates’, Foals have now performed ‘A Knife In The Ocean’ live.

Giving NME a track-by-track rundown of the album, frontman Yannis Philippakis described ‘A Knife In The Ocean’ as “the perfect closer to the record”, adding: “It captures the essence of what the band is trying to do”.

Listen to the song at BBC iPlayer, starting at the 1 hour 42 minute mark.

Philippakis also attempted to climb onto the balcony during the performance. Check out photos of that moment below.
