THE FOLK IMPLOSION are to release a new single, ‘FREE TO GO’, and have also announced details of two rare Lou Barlow solo UK shows under the FOLK IMPLOSION banner.
‘Free To Go’ is released on May 15 through Domino and is the first single from the band’s highly acclaimed album ‘One Part Lullaby’ from last year.
The single is released on 2 CD and 7″ formats, and is backed by new tracks ‘Tomorrow May Be Another Day’ and ‘Reservoir’, plus acoustic versions of ‘Mechanical Man’ and ‘Blossom’. The original version of ‘Blossom’ features on the band’s debut album ‘Take A Look Inside’, while the original ‘Mechanical Man’ is found on ‘One Part Lullaby’.
Prior to the release of the single, Implosion vocalist Lou Barlow will perform some rare solo shows as ‘One Part Folk Implosion’ at the Dublin Music Centre (April 29) and London Dingwalls (May 3). The Dublin gig is part of a Domino Records showcase, and features support from labelmates Clinic and Max Tundra.
Barlow‘s other band, Sebadoh, have just returned from the South By Southwest music convention in Texas. The band amicably left their American label Sub Pop a year ago following the completion of a two album deal, which culminated in the release of the band’s ninth studio album ‘The Sebadoh’.
In England the band are signed to Domino Records, and ‘The Sebadoh’ was the band’s biggest selling record in the UK to date. The album spawned the chart hit ‘Flame’, and earned them an appearance on Top Of The Pops.
