Teenage Fanclub will open for Dave Grohl and co in Manchester
The two groups have previously toured together in South Africa and South America, with Ricky Wilson and co now opening for the band at Sunderland’s Stadium Of Light in May.
It’s also been confirmed that Teenage Fanclub will support Foo Fighters in Manchester, with Iggy Pop and Royal Blood already announced as tour supports elsewhere during the live stint.
Kaiser Chiefs recently unveiled a video skit in which Dave Grohl gives them a fiery pep talk at one of their gigs. The video, played before the encore of the band’s arena tour, sees the Foo Fighters frontman storming into the Kaiser Chiefs dressing room and delivering a rant at each band member. “What the fuck was that?” Grohl screams. “What a fucking load of shit. Bunch of amateurs, all of you … You’re the Kaiser Chiefs, act like it.”
Meanwhile, Ricky Wilson previously recounted an incident in which he told Dave Grohl he’s on TV talent show The Voice. “We had dinner the other night and I had to break the news to him that I’m on a television talent search contest,” Wilson said. “And I know that he’s not the biggest fan of those things, but he goes, ‘I don’t care if my friends are doing it’!”
Dave Grohl has hit out at TV talent shows such as American Idol and The X Factor, claiming that many contestants are judged far too harshly by judges that are not musically talented. He told NME: “I think people should feel encouraged to be themselves. That’s what bums me out about those shows where people are judged so harshly by fucking musicians that hardly even play an instrument on their own fucking albums. It makes me really mad.”
