Kurt Cobain ‘kissed Dave Grohl on the face’ after hearing first Foo Fighters demo

"He was so excited," Grohl says in latest episode of 'Sonic Highways'

Dave Grohl has said that Kurt Cobain “kissed him on the face” when he played the first Foo Fighters demo to his Nirvana bandmate.

As Consequence Of Sound reports, the latest episode of Sonic Highways saw Grohl open up about playing an early demo of Foo Fighters song ‘Alone + Easy Target’ to Cobain while Nirvana were on 1992. The song went on to appear on Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut album.

“Kurt heard that, and kissed me on the face, as he was in a bath,” Grohl said. “He was so excited. He was like, ‘I heard you recorded some stuff with Barrett [Jones].’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He was like, ‘Let me hear it.’ I was too afraid to be in the same room as he listened to it.”

Foo Fighters play:

Sunderland Stadium Of Light (May 25, 2015)
Manchester Emirates Old Trafford (27)
Ireland Slane Castle (30)
London Wembley Stadium (June 19, 20)
Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium (23)

Foo Fighters released ‘Sonic Highways’ earlier this month, but lost out on the UK Number One spot to Pink Floyd.
