The band will play a series of huge shows in support of 'Sonic Highways' next summer
Foo Fighters have announced plans for a 2015 tour of the UK, set to take place in May and June of next year.
The Dave Grohl fronted band will play Sunderland Stadium Of Light on May 25, Manchester Emirates Old Trafford on May 27, Wembley Stadium on June 19 and 20 and Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium on June 23. Tickets go on pre-sale November 19 and on general sale at 10am on November 21.
Support will come from Iggy Pop and Royal Blood on select dates to be confirmed. Dave Grohl recently said to NME of the Brighton rock duo: “I saw some live footage of them, and I was so excited to see a band that was heavy, had riffs, had songs, and could really perform, and an audience that was genuinely excited to watch them play.”
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters are currently trailing Pink Floyd for the Number One position in this week’s Official UK Albums Chart. Pink Floyd’s ‘The Endless River’ was released on Monday (November 10) and Official Chart Company data shows that the album has sold 92,000 copies so far this week, making it one of the fastest selling albums of the year so far. The big sales figures put the album ahead of its nearest rival, Foo Fighters‘ ‘Sonic Highways’ which is currently at Number Two. The final chart placings will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday (November 16).
