Duo were joined by Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins on Monday night

Dave Grohl covered songs by The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan songs during an impromptu performance with bandmate Taylor Hawkins and Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction in New York on Monday night.

The two Foo Fighters members and the Jane’s Addiction frontman were in attendance at the McKittrick Hotel to celebrate the launch of Danny Clinch: Still Moving, a new book from photographer Danny Clinch. It was during the party that the three covered ‘Miss You’ by The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan’s ‘From A Buick 6’. Scroll down to watch footage shot by fans now.

Grohl and Hawkins are currently in New York as they film a week’s worth of appearances on Late Show With David Letterman. Foo Fighters’ first performance saw them cover ‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath while last night (October 14) they were joined by Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson to play ‘Kick it Out’.

Foo Fighters’ eighth album, ‘Sonic Highways’, will be released on November 10. As previously revealed to NME, Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen are among the guests who feature on the record.

Sonic Highways, the documentary which takes viewers behind the scenes as Foo Fighters record their new album in different studios around America, will air in the UK on BBC Four beginning Sunday, October 26. The eight-episode series will then be split between BBC Four and BBC iPlayer, with episodes three to six available exclusively online. The final two episodes will then be shown on BBC Four.
