Foo Fighters fan raising £25k to ‘buy Dave Grohl’

Texas radio host has launched an online campaign to hang out with the Foo Fighters frontman

A Foo Fighters fan is attempting to raise money to “buy” frontman Dave Grohl so they can “hang out and high five and shit”.

Frank Pain, radio host for Texas’ Rock 108, has launched a GoFundMe campaign and is hoping to raise $35,000 (approx £25k) to help his cause.

“I’m his biggest fan and figured I can round up enough scratch to purchase him so we can hang out and high five and shit. Heck, I may give him a bro-hug or two as well,” Pain explains on the GoFundMe page.

He added: “I’m not 100% the amount I’m asking for will buy him. Hell, I’m not even sure if it’s legal to purchase another human being… But, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try, right?”

So far, $443 (£305) has been raised by 38 people. If he fails in his bid (“if it is indeed illegal to purchase another human… or if Mr. Grohl isn’t a willing purchasee) then Pain says he will “spend the money on beer because Dave seems like the kind of person that would want me to drink beer.”

Pain has since taken to Twitter to describe himself as feeling “extremely humbled” by interest in the campaign, adding: “This is the most fun I’ve had in a very long time.”

Dave Grohl has not yet responded to the campaign.
