Foo Fighters man goes solo

Drummer emerges from behind the kit

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is set to release his first solo album.

Hawkins and his band Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders are set to release their self titled debut album on March 7.

It follows his vocal performance of ‘Cold Day in the Sun’ on the Foo Fighters‘ last album, 2005’s ‘In Your Honor’.

“I really wanted to make a record and have a project outside of the Foo Fighters,” he told Rolling Stone. “I had to kind of create another little environment for myself to keep busy and excited.”

Hawkins is planning a solo tour of the US and the UK, after the Foo Fighters hit the road later this year in support of ‘In Your Honor’’s acoustic set.
