Foo Fighters to headline European festival the same week as Glastonbury

Band add another European date to their 2017 tour schedule

Foo Fighters have been announced to headline Denmark’s Roskilde Festival 2017, which takes place the same week as next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Roskilde 2017 will take place in Copenhagen from June 24 to July 1, while Glastonbury runs next year from June 21-25. Tickets for Roskilde go on sale on Tuesday (November 15). See more details at the Roskilde website.

Foo Fighters last played the Danish festival in 2005 and will return for what is being billed as their only Scandinavian show of next summer. Other acts confirmed for Roskilde include Trentemøller, Angel Olsen, Moderat/Modeselektor and Jenny Hval.

Roskilde’s Head of Programme Anders Wahrén says of the news: “Foo Fighters is undoubtedly one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and we have wanted them back for a long time. We’re thrilled that it finally panned out so we can welcome them back to Roskilde Festival for their only Scandinavian show next summer.”

The announcement will fuel rumours that Foo Fighters could also headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival following their 2015 cancellation.

Foo Fighters recently confirmed that they will headline Nos Alive in Portugal next summer, as well as Poland’s Open’er Festival. More European live dates are expected shortly, with the band launching a digital passport to detail their tour schedule.

The band are expected to release a new album next year – despite reports that Dave Grohl is said to be working on a solo album and drummer Taylor Hawkins has also announced his debut solo effort.
