Prosecutors are said to be reviewing the domestic violence charges against rapper XXXTentacion after footage that appeared to show him hitting a woman in the head surfaced online.
Last year, the rapper was released from prison and put on “very strict house arrest conditions”, after a document from an ex-girlfriend was filed claiming that she no longer wants XXXTentacion to be prosecuted for domestic abuse against her. However, last week his house arrest was lifteed.
This followed the rapper being charged with a litany of crimes – including the aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and false imprisonment because of a series of alleged attacks on his ex-girlfriend.
Now as TMZ reports, prosecutors are reviewing the case after old footage resurfaced of the Florida MC dancing behind a girl who was filming herself, before he is seen to hit her hard on the side of her head.
The rapper’s attorney Jaclyn Broudy then defended him, claiming that he and the girl in the video were friends and that it was “taken completely in jest” – adding that the footage is dated and he is now a “changed person”.
A full statement released by the rapper’s attorneys, J. David Bogenschutz and Jaclyn Broudy, reads: “We have seen what purports to be an aged (which is apparent from the physical differences in the depiction) video and note that it is, at least, inconclusive as to whether any such “hitting” actually occurred and WHEN this alleged incident took place. Moreover, the actors in this video are obviously friends, and also obviously acting in jest. You should be also aware that we are advised that the woman in the video has been located and has admitted that that activity depicted was a “joke” and not an “assault,” something that can easily be determined from watching it.”
“Jahseh has been more than a changed young man as a result of this ordeal and it is disturbing that people who have negative agendas continue to try to tar him. He has dedicated himself to spreading a positive message and has been participating in community outreach and charitable concerns, and, despite these attacks on him, he continues that positive approach and is staying true to his music.”
