FOXY SHOOTS FROM THE HIP

US media have been speculating the gun battle may be related to a dispute between Brown and 'Lil Kim...

FOXY BROWN has broken her silence over the gun battle outside a NEW YORK radio station, which left one man hospitalised.

As previously reported on NME.COM, police are attempting to identify a number of men who are believed to have taken part in a shootout outside the Hot 97, WQHT radio station in Greenwich Village on February 25.

Rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga and Lil’ Kim were at the station that afternoon, and one man, Efrain Ocasio, who was caught in the crossfire, admitted himself to hospital after being shot in the back.

US media have been speculating the gun battle may be related to the track ‘Bang Bang’ on the Capone-N-Noreaga album ‘The Reunion’, where fellow rapper Foxy Brown, who makes an appearance as guest vocalist, appears to criticise Kim.

However, according to US hip-hop website [url=]www.the411online.com, Brown and her label Def Jam have issued a statement distancing themselves from the incident.

In the statement, Brown said she was “not involved in any way” in the shooting. The statement read: “I was not involved in any way. In fact, I was at home when this happened, nowhere near the radio station, and I have absolutely no knowledge or understanding as to why such a senseless and violent act took place. My prayers go out to the gentleman who was hurt for a speedy recovery, and of course, to his family during this difficult time.”

Def Jam chairman Russell Simmons added: “I’ve known Foxy for a number of years, and I’ve never known her to exhibit any form of violence, and I stand absolutely certain that she didn’t promote or participate in this act of violence in any way.”

Both Lil’ Kim and Capone-N-Noreaga have denied any involvement in the incident, and no arrests have yet been made. The New York Daily News claim police gang specialists have been brought in to try and put a stop to any possible reprisals from the incident.
