Frances Bean Cobain sympathises with Sean Lennon over having fashion choices compared to their parents

"I promise I don’t ‘try’ to look like my parents, it just happens"

Francis Bean Cobain and Sean Lennon have spoken about being compared to their parents with regards to certain fashion choices.

On Saturday (March 31) Lennon posted on Instagram that people regularly accuse him of “trying” to copy his parents, Yoko Ono, and the late John Lennon.

He wrote: “On @fallontonight wearing @kyosukekunimoto I have struggled all my life w people telling me I’m ‘trying’ to look like dad, or mum. That’s why I rarely wear these type of glasses, but they’re actually just better on my face.

“It’s funny, but I promise I don’t ‘try’ to look like my parents, it just happens. Especially when I dress cool because they had epic style, so it is often unintentionally evocative. Which glasses do y’all prefer on me?” he wrote.

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love‘s daughter, Frances, commented on Sean’s post, saying that she sympathises with him.

“You look wonderful! I do the same thing re sunglasses, I try not to wear those friggin oval frames often, but i when i do, i know they look good on mah face, so, what can we do,” she said.

“Embrace the similarities and celebrate the differences, i suppose !”

Last month, Frances addressed an iconic photograph of her and RuPaul that was taken when she was a baby.

The drag icon was a close friend of Bean’s late father, and their meeting at the 1993 MTV VMAs resulted in a famous snap.

“I firmly believe that that photo captures my personality being made,” Frances said of the image while speaking on RuPaul’s Whats The Tee podcast. “You are the reason I am the way I am . . . You were not my only drag queen in my life from a very young age. I had drag nannies. I remember waking up next to a nanny of mine who used to do Miss Piggy-type drag in a red sequin dress and snout askew.”
