Frank Ocean to return to stage at tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards

Odd Future singer will appear alongside Green Day, Rihanna and Pink at tonight's bash

Frank Ocean is to return to the stage tonight (September 6) after canceling all his European festival appearances.

The singer will perform alongside Green Day, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, One Direction, Pink and Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, which takes place tonight in Los Angeles at the Staples Center and will be broadcast tomorrow (September 7).

The Odd Future singer picked up three nominations for Best New Artist, Best Male Video, and Best Direction.

The Wanted, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, 2 Chainz and Ke$ha will be presenting awards on the night, as well as Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller and the US women’s Olympics gymnastics team.

Rihanna and Drake lead the nominations in this year’s MTV VMAs, with five nods each. The R&B stars are both up in the coveted Video Of The Year category, for ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Take Care’ respectively. Drake also received nods for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. Rihanna also picked up nominations for Best Female Video, Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects and Best Pop Video.

Katy Perry is in second place with four VMA nominations, including video of the year for ‘Wide Awake’. In the Best Rock Video category are Coldplay with ‘Paradise’, The Black Keys with ‘Lonely Boy’, Linkin Park with ‘Burn It Down’, Jack White with ‘Sixteen Saltines’ and Image Dragons with ‘It’s Time’.

A new category – Best Electronic Dance Music Video – has been added this year, which includes nominations for Calvin Harris for ‘Feel So Close’ and Skrillex for ‘First Of The Year (Equinox)’.

Last years’ winners include Tyler, The Creator for Best New Artist, while Lady Gaga picked up Best Female Video for ‘Born This Way’ and Foo Fighters picked up Best Rock Video.
