Lo-fi musician describes Ocean as 'a really cool guy'

Prolific lo-fi musician Alex G has spoken about working with Frank Ocean.

The R&B star released his long-awaited new album ‘Blonde’ on August 20, coming just days after visual album ‘Endless’.

It was already known that Alex G had played on ‘Endless’ but now he’s revealed that he features on ‘Blonde’ too. Speaking in interview with Run For Cover Records, the musician said that he plays guitar on ‘Self Control’ and ‘White Ferrari’ from the latter album.

Alex G says that the collaboration came about when Ocean invited him to come to his studio before a London gig, adding that they would get together “every couple of months” to record.

“I don’t know why it happened,” he said, “but that’s how it happened.” He described Ocean as “a really cool guy”, though he admitted that they didn’t speak that much.

Alex G also revealed that Ocean encouraged him to play guitar more “soulfully”. Watch at the 3.07 mark below.

Ocean reportedly has “a lot” of unreleased music leftover from his ‘Blonde’ and ‘Endless’ album sessions.
