Frank Ocean’s mum urges fans not to pay “ridiculous” eBay prices for Boys Don’t Cry

Copies of the magazine are going for over £600

Frank Ocean‘s mum Katonya Breaux has urged fans not to pay “ridiculous” eBay prices for copies of Boys Don’t Cry – the free magazine Frank Ocean has produced to accompany his new album ‘Blonde’.

Limited copies of Ocean’s zine were handed out on August 21, with some now being sold on eBay with an asking price of nearly $800 – just over £600.

Breaux took to Twitter earlier today, writing “Don’t Pay those ridiculous prices for the mags on eBay. Just hang tight a sec..” prompting rumours that more issues of the zine could be released.

The magazine was made available on August 21 at pop-up shops in four cities: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and London. After Ocean shared the London location on his Tumblr, fans dashed to a newsagent on Charlotte Street, W1 in the hope of grabbing a copy.

Billboard reports that the magazine features short stories, interviews with Lil’ B and Om’Mas Keith, a pitch for a TV series, photos from a fashion shoot and several poems written by Ocean, as well as one penned by West.

‘Blonde’ includes new single ‘Nikes’ and also credits such big name contributors as David Bowie, Kanye West, Jamie xx, The Beatles, Brian Eno, Pharrell Williams, Elliott Smith, James Blake, Yung Lean, Tyler, The Creator and former Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij.
