Frank Ocean ‘has the material’ to release his album, says ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ collaborator

Rapper Lil B discusses working with Ocean on his eagerly-anticipated second album

Frank Ocean “has the material” to release his long-awaited ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ album, rapper Lil B has said.

It has been rumoured the pair have worked on new music ever since Lil B posted several pictures of them together, but the rapper has now confirmed the collaboration.

“Frank Ocean was amazing,” he told Dazed. “He called me to come out and do some stuff for his album, Boys Don’t Cry, that’s coming out. He’s a beautiful man with a beautiful voice. He’s a very strong man, a very strong person. Anything that I can do to help him, I will.”

Asked if he could say any more, he replied: “If Frank releases. Let’s see what Frank releases. Frank has the material.”

Fans have been awaited the singer’s new album, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, for some time. It was initially due to be released in July 2015 and then July of this year. The last release date to be touted was August 5, but again the record failed to materialise.

Frank Ocean’s producer Malay recently responded to fan frustration over the apparent album delay. “To be fair, art cannot be rushed,” he said. “It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error… That goes for any creative [situation]”.
