Frank Ocean confirms new album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ will arrive in July 2016

The singer's website has been updated to show the release details

Frank Ocean has confirmed that his new album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ will be released this month.

On his website, Ocean has republished an old post from July 2015 that suggested the album would be released that month – an image of him posing with copies of his new magazine, also called ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. In the caption for this post he writes “‘I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.’ #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDON’TCRY”.

Ocean has also published a new post today (July 2), suggesting that the album’s release has been pushed back more than 15 times since July 2015, with the new release date falling at some point in July 2016.

The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. In March, Ocean’s producer Malay said that the album was “maybe a month away”.

Ocean’s friend Chance The Rapper has said that he is “making a masterpiece”, while James Blake has worked on the album and has called it “better” than Ocean’s 2012 debut ‘Channel Orange’.

In February this year new Frank Ocean music was leaked online, supposedly after a secret listening party. The untitled snippets were uploaded to Soundcloud and vid.me but both were pulled down due to copyright claims.
