'Merry Christmas You C***s' is a cover of a track by The Breakdowns
Frank Turner has shared a cover of a NSFW Christmas song, called ‘Merry Christmas You C***s’.
Turner, who has just finished recording his new album in Nashville, posted a video – which you can see above – in which he sings the song with his producer Butch Walker. The song was originally performed by The Breakdowns, and their version of the track is available to buy on iTunes as of today (December 15).
The video is captioned as being ‘not safe for work/kids’ due to its lyrical content. Turner will return to the UK on December 17 to play XFM’s Winter Wonderland at the O2 in Brixton alongside Billy Bragg, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Royal Blood and The Horrors.
Next year Turner plays solo at Manchester’s Night and Day Cafe (January 28, 2015) and London’s 93 Feet East (29) in support of local music venues under threat of closure, before touring Australia and New Zealand with his full band in April.
His new album will be released next year. Butch Walker’s production credits include Taylor Swift, The Wombats and Panic! At The Disco. Speaking recently about the LP, the London based singer-songwriter said it would be ‘punk rock’. He commented: “I want to make a really rough-around-the-edges punk rock record, so we’re not going to take very long in recording it. I want to just hammer it out, me and The Sleeping Souls… I want it to sound fresh and raw and hungry.”
Turner explained that the record will be out as soon as possible next year. “I’m very excited about it now,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a very good album”. Turner’s most recent studio album ‘Tape Deck Heart’ was released in 2013.
