Frank Turner recording Mongol Horde hardcore album

Turner is currently laying down punk project vocals in London

Frank Turner is currently in the studio recording his hardcore project Mongol Horde‘s debut album.

Turner launched the band in August 2012 with gigs in London and Leeds as well as at Reading and Leeds Festivals. The band also features Turner’s former Million Dead bandmate Ben Dawson and Matt Nasir, who is a member of the singer’s current backing band The Sleeping Souls. The band are recording in Amazing Grace Studios in London. Earlier today (December 12), Turner tweeted that he had recorded the vocals for six songs, with seven still to go. He wrote:

Turner has just returned from an extensive North American tour in support of his most recent album, ‘Tape Deck Heart’. He plays a special charity show with Billy Bragg for Shelter at London Wilton’s Music Hall on December 18.

The singer-songwriter will perform seven huge gigs in February 2014, starting in Cardiff on February 6 and ending in Portsmouth on February 13. Gigs in Nottingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Plymouth and London will also take place.
