Frank Turner unveils new hardcore band Mongol Horde’s first track – listen

The former Million Dead man's new outfit is as extreme as he promised

Frank Turner revealed that his new hardcore project is named Mongol Horde and has unveiled the first track.

The track, which you can listen to by clicking below, is titled ‘Casual Threats From Weekend Hardmen’ and is a fast, punky track in the style of classic hardcore bands Minor Threat and Black Flag.

Mongol Horde also features Turner’s former Million Dead bandmate Ben Dawson and Matt Nadir, who is a member of the singer’s current backing band The Sleeping Souls.

Speaking to NME previously about the band in a video, which you can watch below, Turner said: “Musically it’s taking cues from bands like Jesus Lizard, Hot Snakes, Mclusky.”

He continues: “Lyrically it’s very different from what I do now, it’s kind of depraved. The first song we wrote is about Natalie Portman’s tapeworm using her as a glove puppet to lead an uprising in Hollywood. We’re writing a whole pile of new songs and we’re going to do some live dates soon.”

Frank Turner will play next month’s V Festival as well as the Strummer Of Love and Beautiful Days festivals.
