Alex Kapranos accuses Pharrell Williams of ‘borrowing’ Franz Ferdinand riff for new single

The band's frontman tweets at the producer about his new track with Paloma Faith

Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has accused producer Pharrell Williams of “borrowing” a riff from the band for a new song he has produced for Paloma Faith.

Williams has worked with Faith on new single ‘Can’t Rely On You’, the first track to be taken from the London based singer’s new album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’. Posting on Twitter earlier today (January 31), Kaparanos appeared to suggest that the song borrows generously from an unnamed Franz Ferdinand song. Scroll down to see the tweet and video now.

Discussing the song, which has a riff running throughout not dissimilar to that of Franz Ferdinand’s 2004 single ‘Take Me Out’, Kapranos wrote: “Hey @Pharrell – I love your tunes. If you want to borrow a riff, just ask… ” Williams has yet to respond.
