The final ten for the US equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize is announced...

Streets, Dizzee Rascal and Norah Jones have all been nominated for the US equivalent of the MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE.

The British acts are amongst the ten nominees for the Shortlist prize, chosen from a shortlist of 73 artists.

The panel of ‘Listmakers’ has been made from critics and musicians like Massive Attack, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Ghostface Killah’s 3D and Jack Black.

Created in 2001, the winner of the $10,000 (£5,563) prize will be announced on November 10. Unlike the Mercury Music Prize, the Shortlist prize includes artists from other countries.

Shortlist co-founder Tom Sarig commented: “We’re thrilled by the musical breadth and depth of the finalists selected by our Listmaker panel.”
