(CAR) PARK LIVE!

Demand is so high to see them that the band play an additional set in a car park...

Franz Ferdinand played a top secret show in LEEDS last night, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

The show was played at the Brudenell Social Club and the band played under the name The Black Hands.

Fans at the show say that demand was so high hundreds of people were locked outside the tiny building despite waiting in the rain. However, in addition to their set inside, the band played a short, acoustic set in the car park nearby.

Earlier in the evening, the band joined support act and old Glasgow pals The

Country Teasers as guest backing band, with singer Alex Kapranos filling in on bass guitar. During their own set, Franz were joined on backing vocals by Fiery Furnaces singer Eleanor Friedberger for the track ‘Love And Destroy’.

Alex told NME.COM: “It’s a joy to play a small venue like this again. It reminds me of where we were this time last year. On the current tour we’ve been upgraded to loads of bigger venues, so it’s nice to get back to something intimate.”

The sold-out tour continues at:
