The band play their first live gig of 2005...

Franz Ferdinand played their first live show of 2005 last night.

The band headlined a bill at the London Royal Albert Hall (April 5), which also featured appearances from Kaiser Chiefs, Graham Coxon and a short acoustic set from Magic Numbers.

All four acts appeared for free, and proceeds from the show are to be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

During Franz Ferdinand’ set, the band played four previously unreleased songs – ’Your Diary’ and ’This Boy’, ‘Wee Andy’ and ‘Evil Heathen’.

’Your Diary’ and ’This Boy’ were completely reworked from last year’s live shows, while ‘Wee Andy’ and ‘Evil Heathen’ were trademark Franz Ferdinand, and likely to feature on the band’s forthcoming second album, due later this year.

The band played: ‘Michael’

’40 Feet’

‘Tell Her Tonight’

‘Auf Asche’

‘This Boy’

‘Van Tango’

‘Your Diary’

‘Take Me Out’

‘Wee Andy’

‘Love And Destroy’

‘Come On Home’

‘Darts Of Pleasure’

‘Shopping For Blood’

‘Evil Heathen’

‘This Fire’

The charity shows continue tonight (April 6) with a gig headlined by Peter Kay, followed by Keane (April 7) and UB40, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey and Goldie Lookin Chain on the closing night (8).
