Franz Ferdinand have arrived in ROME for tonight’s (November 18) MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS, where they lead the nominations.
They join six other artists, including Britney Spears, who are nominated for three awards. The Glasgow champions are up for Best New Act, Best UK & Ireland Act and Best Alternative Act. They will also perform tonight.
They already have one MTV gong in the form of the Breakthrough Award for ‘Take Me Out’, given to them at August’s Video Music Awards in Miami.
Spears, meanwhile, is up for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song for ‘Toxic’. Elsewhere, Brits Muse and Hives vie for Best Alternative Act.
Eminem, Alicia Keys, Xzibit, Nelly, [/a], [a], Maroon 5, Usher and Gwen Stefani will all perform, while [a][/a] will host the ceremony.
The MTV Europe Music Awards 2004 will be broadcast on MTV at 8pm tonight.
