Their new album arrives next month
Franz Ferdinand appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (January 17) to perform a cut from their new album.
The band treated the late night audience to ‘Always Ascending’ – the title track from their forthcoming album.
‘Always Ascending’ is the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’ and is the band’s first record since guitarist Nick McCarthy left the group after 14 years back in July 2016. You can watch the performance below.
Speaking to NME last October, frontman Alex Kapranos described his band’s new album as “the perfect introduction to the decade that’s about to come”.
“We wanted to take the sounds that are available to us now and make the sound that you haven’t heard before – the sound of the future,” Kapranos explained. “When you’re recording in 2017 you need to be looking ahead to the next thing. What haven’t people even heard in 2018?”
The tracklisting for ‘Always Ascending’ is:
The Academy Award
Huck And Jim
Glimpse Of Love
Feel The Love Go
Slow Don’t Kill Me Slow
It’s set to be released on February 9.
