Friendly Fires announce first UK festival date in over five years

The band last graced the festival stage on these shores in September 2012 with a performance at Bestival

Friendly Fires have been added to the already-massive line-up for TRNSMT festival – a slot that will mark their first UK festival performance in over five years.

The three-piece, who last released an album in 2011 with their sophomore LP ‘Pala’, are set to return to action in 2018 following a lengthy hiatus. The band released a statement back in October which promised the imminent arrival of new music, and have already announced a comeback show at Brixton Academy in London in April.

Friendly Fires will grace the stage at TRNSMT festival on July 8, playing on the same day as headliners The Killers. That day will also see performances from the likes of CHVRCHES, Franz Ferdinand and the also newly-announced Lewis Capaldi.

The performance will also be Friendly Fires’ first UK festival appearance since September 2012, when they played at Bestival.

Tickets for TRNSMT – which takes place on Glasgow Green across two weekends: June 29-July 1 and July 6-8 – will go on pre-sale from 9am tomorrow (January 30) and will be available to purchase here.

Earlier today, Arctic Monkeys were confirmed as TRNSMT’s latest headliners. Set to top the bill on July 1, the Sheffield four-piece will play before sets from the likes of Interpol, Blossoms and Miles Kane.
