Move over Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Helden – now it’s time for indie featherweights Clint Boon and Fuzz Townshend to have a DJing face-off in the ring.
The weigh-in between the former Inspiral Carpets keyboard player and Bentley Rhythm Ace‘s drummer, refereed by former Word presenter Terry Christian, takes place on August 15 at Werneth Park in Oldham before a Boon gig.
The event proper, being billed as the ‘Featherweight DJ Championship Of The World’, will be staged at the London Camden Underworld on September 2.
A spokesperson explained that the event had been inspired by the superstar DJ ‘fight’ held at Stoke Trentham Gardens and London Brixton Academy earlier this year.
Boon threw down the gauntlet after seeing Fuzz DJ at a nightclub in Manchester where he lives.
“Fuzz DJs every week at the Fab Cafi in Manchester anyway, so Clint just went up to him and challenged him,” Boon‘s spokesperson explained. “They know each other, so it’s going to be a really good laugh. But I reckon Clint‘s spinning ability will knock Fuzz out within the first two rounds.”
The Clint Boon Experience‘s new single, ‘You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down’, is out now through Artful.
