New album will be band's first release since 2011's 'Content'
Gang Of Four have collaborated with The Kills’ Alison Mosshart on their new album, ‘What Happens Next’, which will be released on March 2 via Membran Records.
Mosshart appears on several tracks off the album, including lead single ‘Broken Talk’, which you can listen to below. Other musicians that feature on the record include Big Pink’s Robbie Furze, Japanese guitarist Hotei and German singer Herbert Grönemeyer.
It will be Gang Of Four’s first release since 2011’s ‘Content’, and the first since the departure of frontman Jon King, who has since been replaced by former Gaoler’s Daughter frontman John Sterry.
The post-punk outfit from Leeds have also announced new US tour dates following their UK shows in Huddersfield and London later this month.
In September, a host of Yorkshire bands, including Sky Larkin, Esper Scout and Cowton Love Buzzard covered Gang of Four’s celebrated 1979 album ‘Entertainment!’ for a special Cassette Store Day release.
The compilation, titled ‘So… This Is What Passes For Entertainment These Days?’ was put out to mark the 35th anniversary of the album’s release and had a limited run of 100 copies.
Meanwhile, Alison Mosshart’s other project with Jack White, The Dead Weather, released new song ‘Buzzkill(er)’ last month as part of Third Man Records’ ‘Vault’ subscription series. A new album from the band is mooted for release in 2015.
