Garbage start work on their sixth studio album

Band are set to lay down tracks in the recording studio for 'Not Your Kind Of People' follow up in early 2013

Garbage have started working on a new album.

The band, who took seven years to release their most recent LP ‘Not Your Kind Of People’, claim that writing sessions have moved quickly for their next record over the last year and they are planning to head into the studio in the New Year.

“We’re going to do some recording in January, early February,” drummer Butch Vig told Rolling Stone, before singer Shirley Manson added: “The good thing now is we don’t even need to think in terms of an album, so we’re just thinking in terms of new music, which actually really works in our favour. Historically, we’ve worked slow because we’ve toured so much – we go and spend a year making a record, then we go back out on the road. Now we realise we can do two or three tracks, release these tracks and then go on the road.”

Manson recently got into Twitter spat after a gig in Koln, Germany resulting in her telling fans to “fuck off and blow me”. Garbage also recently had their Twitter page hacked by someone pretending to be a drunk Shirley Manson. The hacker posted a string of tweets, asking “really attractive girls” if they could post photos of themselves and also posted the lyrics from Will Smith’s 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
