Coombes will play Manchester’s Ruby Lounge on May 17 and London’s Bush Hall on May 25. He will release his debut solo album, ‘Here Come The Bombs’, on May 21. The album was co-produced by Sam Williams, who previously worked with Coombes when producing Supergrass‘s 1995 debut album, ‘I Should Coco’.
He will also play a number of UK festivals this summer, including London’s Camden Crawl and The Apple Cart Festival as well as The Great Escape.

Speaking exclusively to NME earlier this year, Coombes revealed that he was happy not to be in a band, he said: “With my solo album I’m making the kind of music I want to make. I don’t have to have a discussion with a bandmate where I’m trying to convince them of the direction I want to go in. Right now I don’t want to to be in a band or anything like a band.”
The singer said that the new album was influenced by the soundtrack work of John Barry and John Carpenter. “In terms of experimenting with sounds, using synths and finding sounds, I was looking to soundtracks,” he said.
