3 Colours Red (pictured) have been confirmed as special guests on the forthcoming Marilyn Manson European tour. The tour arrives at London Brixton Academy on December 17, then visits Italy, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Belgium and France. 3 Colours Red release a new single, ‘Beautiful Day’, through Creation on January 11. It is taken from the band’s forthcoming second album, ‘Revolt’, which is scheduled for release on February 8 and will be promoted by a headlining tour in February and March.
REPRAZENT rerelease a limited-edition (5,000 copies) version of ‘Watching Windows’ on December 7 through Talkin’ Loud Records. Originally released in March of this year, the vinyl-only release is a remix by DJ DIE.
GENE will preview material from their forthcoming album on three newly announced support dates with James. The album, which is as-yet untitled, will be released in March next year. It will be preceded by a single, ‘As Good As It Gets’.
Ex-WAH! frontman PETE WYLIE is facing charges of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and her partner. The 40-year-old from Aigburth, Liverpool, will appear at the city’s crown court on January 26 to face trial. Wylie is pleading not guilty to threatening to kill Michelle Bass and John Milton on February 5 this year. He also denies causing fear of violence to Bass between September last year and February 5 by making telephone calls in which he allegedly made threats to kill her.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE release a new album on Epic in February, the follow-up to 1996’s ‘Evil Empire’. The band have finished recording all the tracks for the release, which will be their third LP. It is as-yet untitled. A band spokesman said the track ‘No Shelter’, which they recorded for the soundtrack of Godzilla, would be unlikely to feature on the album.
‘KING BISCUIT TIME Sings Nelly Foggit’s Blues In ‘Me And The Pharaohs” is the absurdly named EP by THE BETA BAND‘s STEVE MASON, aka King Biscuit Time. It sounds like the Betas gone barmy and it’s out on Monday on Regal.
TARWATER return to the UK for a one-off show in the capital, supported by COLDCUT and next week’s On section picks, KARAMASOV. It kicks off at King’s Cross Crossbar Scratch Club tomorrow (December 2).
WOODSTOCK, the sacred-cow of festivals, will be staged in Europe next year. Not the town in New York, but a festival organised by MICHAEL LANG, one of the organisers of the original event in 1969, is staging an event for 300,000 people in Wiener-Neustadt, near Vienna, Austria on July 16 – 18 1999. The line-up will be announced at a press conference in January. Mud is not guaranteed.
MEATLOAF plays a short UK arena tour next year, his first appearances here since 1996. The dates are at Birmingham NEC (March 23 & 25), London Wembley Arena (28 & 30), Glasgow SECC (April 4), Manchester Telewest Arena (6) and Sheffield Arena (10). The ‘Loaf has just completed an acting role in ‘The Fight Club’ with BRAD PITT and has released a greatest hits compilation ‘The Very Best lof Meatloaf’ on Virgin.
