And the much-loved track might even be made available again for Christmas...

George Harrison‘s classic ‘MY SWEET LORD’ looks likely to be re-released – maybe even in time for Christmas.

Following the former Beatles’s death last week (November 29), many fans and corners of the press have been campaigning for the reissue of the track, originally a UK Number One solo single for George Harrison back in 1971.

A representative for his former label EMI told The Sun newspaper the track will be released, although a date for its release is currently unconfirmed. It is understood the proceeds from the song will be donated to charity.

Bookmakers William Hill told NME.COM they are not accepting bets on the track becoming the Christmas Number One because they consider it “distasteful”. However, if the track does go to Number One at Christmas, they will pay out on whatever is at Number Two.
