Gerard Way reveals that he’ll be working on new music every Friday

The MCR singer gives us a peek behind the curtain...

Gerard Way has given an indication for when we’ll be hearing new music from the My Chemical Romance singer and the news is vague but encouraging.

Way – who has recently been working on Young Animal’s ‘Doom Patrol’ comic – took to Facebook last week (March 9) to talk about Fender guitars and his new projects.

The majority of the long post speaks about Way’s relationship with the guitar makers and their equipment but then speaks to new projects.

“Now, onto the music”, Way begins: “It is far too early to have any kind of idea when new music will be coming out from me, or what it will be specifically. Would it be a solo record? A new band? Songs for the Netflix Umbrella Academy show?”

He continues: “Something else? Again, too early to tell, but the process has started and happens every Friday at the moment. I’m in the discovery phase, and very excited about that.”

Recently, Mary J Blige joined the cast of The Umbrella Academy, an upcoming Netflix show from Gerard Way.

The Umbrella Academy is based on Way’s comic book series of the same name. The 10-episode series is set to launch on the streaming service at some point in 2018.

My Chemical Romance split in 2013, and last year Way spoke about the band’s recent informal public reunion, and revealed that they didn’t discuss the band or the possibility of getting back together – but he didn’t deny that it could happen.
