GERI HALLIWELL has been banned from driving for 42 days and given a fine of £400 for speeding.

According to BBC news, the former Spice Girl appeared in Watford Magistrates Court this morning (March 14) after pleading guilty to driving at 60pmh in a 30mph zone on the A411 near Watford on October 31 last year.

Speaking in her defence, lawyer Nicola-Jane Taylor said Halliwell, who was ordered to appear at the court in person, following her guilty plea, offered “no excuses”.

She said: “Miss Halliwell offers no excuses to this court. In short, there are no mitigating circumstances I will be putting to you today. She puts herself in your hands for justice to be meted out to her… She expects to be treated in exactly the same manner as any member of the public and be admonished by this bench.”

Taylor claimed Halliwell was “very, very sorry” for what she did.

On sentencing, Halliwell, who was given a lighter sentence than the maximum allowed, because of her otherwise clean licence and guilty plea, smiled to the three magistrates and said: “Thank you. Have a nice day. Goodbye.”
