Gil Scott-Heron is set to play this summer’s WOMAD festival.
The American political poet will close this year’s event, performing on the Sunday night (July 25). he released his latest album, ‘I’m New Here’, on XL Recordings earlier this year.
“The main stage at WOMAD is the natural home for a musical legend, the godfather of rap music who unlike so many of today’s artists embeds powerful messages in exceptional music,” said festival director Chris Smith. “It will be a highlight of this year’s festival for me.”
Scott-Heron joins the fillowing acts already playing the July 12-15 event, which takes place at Charlton Park in Malmesbury, Wiltshire
