Sarah Harding reportedly sought rehab after ultimatum from other members of Girls Aloud

Singer entered rehab for 'alcohol and depression issues' last week

Sarah Harding apparently entered rehab after an ultimatum from the other members of Girls Aloud, according to tabloid reports today (October 16).

Harding checked into rehab last week in a bid to deal with ‘alcohol and depression issues’, after it was claimed that she’d hit “rock bottom” after splitting from her fiancé Tom Crane last month.

However, according to the Sunday Mirror, Harding’s motivation for seeking treatment was principally to make sure she is part of Girls Aloud‘s lucrative 10th anniversary tour, which is set to take place in 2012.

A source told the paper: “It’s been one of the worst-kept showbiz secrets that the girls are going to be reforming next year to mark their 10-year anniversary. They want these to be their best shows yet to make sure they come back with a bang and are coming up with some huge ideas. But, as preparations started to get under way, the girls realised that, because of her party lifestyle, Sarah was unlikely to be in a fit shape to do it.”

They continued:

Sarah was so excited about getting back on stage with the girls, after they took a break in 2009, and sometimes you just need to hear the truth from your closest friends. So Sarah decided to check herself into a rehab facility in America of her own accord to prove to the girls that she was serious about the tour.

A number of the girlband’s members have hinted that the group would be touring in 2012, with Nadine Coyle confirming recently that the five-piece were “definitely” going to do something to mark the milestone, with gigs and a new album on the agenda.
