Glass Animals have issued a further update on the health of their drummer Joe Seaward after he was seriously injured in a road accident back in July.
The Oxford band confirmed last month that Seaward had been hit by a truck while cycling in Dublin on July 2. A statement released on the band’s social media feeds at the time revealed that he had sustained a number of serious injuries, including a fractured skull and broken leg.
After posting two pictures of Seaward being treated in hospital on July 21 – which confirmed that “he is recovering very well [and is] able to talk better and better each day” – Glass Animals have today (August 2) shared another update on their drummer’s recovery.
The post features a laughing Seaward standing upright with the help of crutches, with Glass Animals writing in the accompanying caption “our little chicken is standing!”
“Slightly wonky…but not for long,” they wrote. “Speech is coming back fast now too. Got a wicked team of doctors and nurses and physiotherapists making sure his rehab goes super well. So happy. Thank all you good people again for the constant kindness.”
Glass Animals confirmed early last month that they had cancelled all of their future tour plans following Seaward’s accident.
