The Wimbledon Common band have been pencilled in for a slot on the Avalon Stage on the final day of the June 24-26 Somerset event.

Mike Batt, the band’s songwriter, told the Daily Mail that discussions have been ongoing since last year.

The Wombles have never played a full-on public gig and previously confined their musical activities mainly to television shows, such as Top Of The Pops, and radio.

The eco-warriors aren’t the only stop motion stars due to play at this year’s GlastonburyCBeebies favourite Rastamouse was added to the bill earlier this week.

Beyonce, Coldplay and U2 are scheduled to headline the Worthy Farm event.
