The Wombles are to reform for a performance at this year’s Glastonbury.
The Wimbledon Common band have been pencilled in for a slot on the Avalon Stage on the final day of the June 24-26 Somerset event.
At the height of their kids’ TV fame in the 1970s, Great Uncle Bulgaria and co scored a string of Top 10 hits, including ‘Remember You’re A Womble’.
Mike Batt, the band’s songwriter, told the Daily Mail that discussions have been ongoing since last year.
“The Wombles have never played a full-on public gig and previously confined their musical activities mainly to television shows, such as Top Of The Pops, and radio.
The eco-warriors aren’t the only stop motion stars due to play at this year’s Glastonbury – CBeebies favourite Rastamouse was added to the bill earlier this week.
Beyonce, Coldplay and U2 are scheduled to headline the Worthy Farm event.
