Glastonbury festival ‘not banning flags’

Spokesperson says flags will still be allowed on Worthy Farm

Glastonbury festival chiefs told NME.COM that flags will not be banned at the Somerset event.

Yesterday (August 25) it was revealed that Festival Republic’s Melvin Benn, who helps to organise the event, had discussed the possibility with Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis following Benn’s decision to ban them at the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place this weekend (August 28-30).

However a Glastonbury spokesperson has now told us that flags will not be banned from the Worthy Farm site next year.

See the new issue of NME, out today (August 26), for more on the flags at festivals debate.
