Glastonbury seeks to extend licence to 2010

Organisers want to extend festival for four years

Glastonbury organisers have been applied for a licence to run the festival for the next four years.

New laws mean that the festival only needs to apply for a single licence. The application is for an expanded capacity of 177,500 people.

A decision will be made on March 26 by Mendip District Council in Somerset, just a few days before tickets for this year’s event go on sale.

As previously reported, the festival is aiming to increase its capacity by 27,500 and wants to get back to its environmental roots with a “village green” area, reports the BBC.
