Goldblade's John Robb sufferes a frightening exxperience the Krylya, where 16 were killed by a suicide bomber...
GOLDBLADE’s JOHN ROBB found himself surrounded by police dogs at the ill-fated Russian ‘KRYLYA festival (July 5) last weekend, at which 16 people were killed after a suicide bombing.
The singer stagedived into the 15,000-strong crowd and the authorities swooped, dragging him out of the moshpit and holding him with the dogs.
After a few words from Robb, the police allowed him back on stage to finish the set although they formed a line between the band and the audience with police dogs. The frontman was forced to leave his clothes in the audience, meaning he had to finish the set in just his boxer shorts.
Due to crowd problems and fans wanting autographs, it took Goldblade two hours to get back to their dressing room after the show, according to Russian newspaper Pravda.
As previously reported on NME.COM, two female bombers attacked the festival in Tushino airfield just outside of Moscow, where 40,000 people were attending. One of the bombers detonated a belt filled with explosives when local police attempted to stop her gaining entrance to the event. The second bomber struck 15 minutes later.
The blasts are being blamed on Chechen separatists by the Russian authorities, though responsibility has not yet been claimed.
