THE CHARLATANS are to play an open air gig at DUBLIN CASTLE in IRELAND, with support coming from GOMEZ and JJ72 on April 30.

The 5000 capacity gig follows on from the band’s ‘Chewing Gum Weekend Tour’, which calls at the Brighton Centre (April 20), Newcastle City Hall (21), Blackpool Empress Ballroom (22), London Shepherd’s Bush Empire (24) and Bristol Colston Hall (25).

The shows in Newcastle, Blackpool and London have now sold out, but tickets for the Dublin gig are available, priced IR#22.50.

The Charlatans are currently in the middle of an American tour with Stereophonics. Speaking from LA, Charlatans vocalist Tim Burgess revealed how living in America is changing his musical outlook. He said: “Everyone wants to be successful here and there is no funk vibe, but I still think there’s hope. I think the new songs will be written from a different perspective now.”

For a full tour feature with both bands, see this week’s NME, out in the UK now.
