Gomez‘s new album is called ‘Liquid Skin’ and is set for a September release through Hut.
The band have just finished recording the follow-up to last year’s ‘Bring It On’. It has been described by singer/guitarist Ian Ball as: “fucking boss, absolutely top”.
He told NME: “We finished it off last week, we were doing the last two tracks which are like the real deal of the album. There’s ‘California’ and ‘Devil Will Ride’ which is like a big fucking epic.
“There’s plucking strings on it. It sounds like an oriental orchestra in this Riverdance section of the song.”
Ball revealed the album’s title ‘Liquid Skin’ had been inspired by a product the band had been using on their American tour.
He said: “We’ve been using it on tour to mend our fingers. It’s this stuff that you put on your fingers and it reeks.”
The album will be preceded on August 30 by new single ‘Rhythm & Blues Alibi’ which has been described by a band spokesman as, “a tongue-in-cheek parody of that most misused music form”.
Gomez are planning to make a rap-style parody video in the style of hip-hop director Hype Williams, famous for his work with Busta Rhymes, TLC and Puff Daddy.
The full track listing of the album is
‘Hangover’ ‘Revolutionary Mood’ ‘Bring It On’ ‘Blue Moon Rising’ ‘Las Vegas Dealer’ ‘We Haven’t Turned Around’ ‘Fill My Cup’ ‘Rhythm 7amp; Blues’ Alibi’ ‘Rosalita’ ‘California’ ‘Devil Will Ride’
Gomez will play this year’s V99 Festival at Staffordshire Weston Park (August 21) and Chelmsford Hylands Park (22).
